What this is

This is the actual health system we're building for Luna, organized around the Doggevity pillars. It's a living document — it changes as Luna ages, as our vet weighs in, and as we test things and see what holds up. Luna is not a stand-in for your dog or your vet; she's a real, honest example of the systems approach in practice.

Most affiliate sites are faceless. Luna's Lab is the opposite: a real dog, a real owner, and a real attempt to make good decisions. Everything we recommend on DogHealthStack passes one test — would we build it into Luna's stack? Here's the current stack, pillar by pillar.

Nutrition & weight

The foundation. Luna eats a complete-and-balanced food appropriate for her life stage, measured by weight on a kitchen scale at every meal — not scooped. Treats are counted as part of her daily calories and kept to a small share. Our single most important rule: keep Luna lean. Our vet confirmed her target body condition, and we check it by feel (ribs easy to feel, visible waist) every week. See the full breakdown in Luna's food bowl breakdown.

Movement & mobility

Consistency over intensity. Luna gets structured daily walks plus play, adjusted for weather and her energy. We've set the home up for joint comfort — traction on slick floors and a supportive bed. We discussed joint support with our vet before adding anything. The full routine is in Luna's mobility routine and walk routine.

Preventive & dental care

Regular vet visits with a consistent set of questions and tracked trends (see Luna's annual wellness checklist). Dental care is a daily home routine plus professional cleanings on our vet's schedule — it's the pillar most owners skip, so we treat it as non-negotiable.

Supplements

Minimal and intentional. We don't add supplements because the internet is excited about them; we add them only after discussing a specific need with our vet. What's currently in (and out) of Luna's routine — and exactly what our vet said — is documented honestly in Luna's supplement stack. Spoiler: it's shorter than you might expect.

Monitoring

An activity tracker gives us a baseline so we can spot meaningful changes in Luna's activity and rest. We log weight and vet notes over time. The point isn't gadgets for their own sake — it's bringing better data to the people who can act on it. See Luna's health dashboard.

💡
The honest part

Not everything we've tried has worked, and we say so. The value of Luna's Lab is that it includes the misses — the supplement we dropped, the gadget that gathered dust, the routine that didn't stick. A stack you can trust is one that admits what didn't pan out.
